 What does Pole Heaven offer?

Pole Heaven will be offering classes and courses at a venue near you in the very near future

Pole Heaven will be offering private lessons either from our own studio or at your own venue

Courses will run over 6 weeks and beginner classes will last for either 1 or 11/4* hrs per class.  There will be  groups of approx 10 - 12 students and every student will have the use of their own pole for the lesson!  As far as we are aware this is the only school offering this in the entire county!
                                                                                                                                            Handspring variation
Intermediate and advanced classes may be smaller groups, enabling more time per person with the instructor. Allowing you  the maximum benefit from your new level of fitness and stamina. This will be decided based upon the level and previous experience of the participants and at the discretion of the instructor.

Courses will need to be booked in advance and paid for prior to taking part, allowing us to ensure there are never too many participants at any one session and so giving everybody adequate time with the pole and instructor. Bookings can be made by telephone 01245327302.

Our aim is that courses will become  ongoing, allowing you to learn at your own pace, either continually or taking breaks in between courses.  Beginners courses will be the most structured, but all classes will take into account the needs of the student and can be tailored to suit the individual.

We also hope to add pay to try pole classes for people to come along and try it out before commiting to a course.  Ideal for those who are curious, but shy or uncertain as to whether they will make friends with the pole!  Currently, you may take advantage of our FREE taster session, which will run prior to course commencement.

Hen parties, birthdays, christmas parties, etc can be catered for.  If you have a group of friends and want to have a couple of hours fun learning a new discipline, we can cater to your needs!  Please ring to discuss 01245327302.

Participants will be asked to sign an informed consent form and fill out a health questionnaire.  Subject to this you will be able to take part in your first lesson.

Prices to be published shortly!

What should I know?

Pole Dance involves using the pole as a piece of equipment as a gymnast would use the beam.  Therefore grip is an important factor.  We must stress that no oils or lotions are to be used prior to using the pole.  These will make it impossible for you to gip and also for anyone using the pole after you.

Pole dance is suitable for anyone with or without a fitness background, even newcomers to exercising will be able to join in and enjoy the class.   You will be taken through a safe warm up and stretching procedure to prepare you for the workout and a cool down at the end of the class. Please bear in mind, this is of the upmost importance for avoiding injuries and excess muscle stiffness.

You may experience muscle aching and bruises from making contact with the pole, don't worry, you will learn to use the pole without incurring bruises as you become more adept!

The classes are based on learning a routine that will incorporate spins, combinations, transitions and floor moves and will be brought together for you to perform on your final lesson.  This will give you a real feeling of achievement after your six weeks of commitment.

What should I wear?

Because we work closely with this piece of aparatus and a lot of the work involves grip between the metal and bare skin, it is advisable to wear a sleeveless t shirt and shorts or a short skirt as you will be using your arms and legs to grip the pole.  However if this makes you feel uncomfortable, feel free to wear comfortable clothing of your choice to begin with.

Some venues will allow for shoes/boots to be worn, or bare feet is ideal, trainers are not really suitable as you cannot feel the pole or use your feet to grip.

What should I bring with me?

A sense of humour and an open mind!  Forget all the preconceptions you may have about pole dance, let your hair down and prepare yourself for a challenge.  You will  find yourself laughing and cheering on the other participants as you learn to master one spin after another.

Who can learn to pole dance

Really anyone that is in reasonably good health.  Age is not an excuse, I have known ladies well into their fifties learning.  You must be at least 18 years of age to take part and you don't need to be a regular exerciser, although you will find it tough if you are new to exercise, but you can pace yourself until you build up your stamina!  Both clients who are big and small can learn to pole dance, however it will take a lot of commitment and discipline to master the very advanced moves.

Why is Pole dancing so expensive?

Pole dance lessons may seem quite pricey compared to other forms of fitness and dance classes, the main reason for this is the ratio of students to instructors.  Obviously, because pole dancing is so demanding you need a fair amount of the instructor's time and expertise per person to get the maximum benefit from the lesson.  Pole dance classes can only have small numbers of participants at a time making it more costly to run.  Often fitness classes may have between 20 - 25 participants at a lower price, but they require less individual time. Due to the fact that the groups are small. the classes have a very intimate and personal feel to them.  People bond very quickly and encourage each other to achieve, this is the unique and invaluable side  of the pole dance class.  I promise, the experience will be excellent value for money and the confidence you gain will be worth every penny!

Anything else I need to know?

Pole dance is a very physical workout, so you need to be aware of any injuries or illnessess that may be affected by this.  If you have any concerns about your health you must consult a doctor before taking part.  You will be asked to sign a health questionnaire before taking part.

Pole dance lessons are open to ladies and gentlemen, so if anyone wants to bring their partner they may do so.  However, we cannot allow spectators, so if they are not taking part please leave them at home.

Pole dance is very demanding and involves a certain amount of flexibility, you will improve your flexibility during the classes, but Yoga and pilates can also help.
